Growing

What my plants taught me about patience

September 14, 2026 by Amber Miles

My windowsill looks like a small jungle and I regret nothing. Pothos, basil, a stubborn little succulent, and one mystery plant that came without a label and refuses to die.

Here is the thing about plants: you cannot rush them. You water them, you give them light, and then you wait. Some weeks absolutely nothing happens. Then one morning there is a new leaf, like it was your secret the whole time.

I think people work the same way. We water ourselves with small good habits and mostly we see nothing, nothing, nothing, then suddenly a new leaf. The growth was happening the entire time. It was just happening somewhere we could not see yet.

So if this month feels slow, if you are showing up and nothing looks different, hang in there. Roots first, then leaves. That is the order.

Grow through what you go through. Water yourself and trust the process.

Something on your mind?
