My Sunday reset ritual
September 8, 2026 by Amber Miles
Sunday evenings used to give me the dread. You know the feeling, that slow slide from weekend joy into Monday anxiety somewhere around six in the evening.
So I built a ritual to catch me on the way down. One hour. A candle, a comfy blanket, my journal, and my phone in another room. I tidy one small thing, I plan the top three things for Monday, and then I read something cozy until bed.
It is not complicated and it is not impressive, but it works. The dread has been replaced by something that feels a bit like a deep breath for my whole week.
The best part is that it does not have to be perfect to count. Some Sundays the candle does not get lit. Some Sundays the tidy is just tossing three pillows back onto the couch. The ritual is the pause, not the checklist.
Tomorrow is a good day to have a good day. Prepare for it gently, and let Sunday be soft.
